The CEO of IBEX Mr. Konstantin Konstantinov and 3 representatives from IBEX Market Operations Department visited EPİAŞ in Istanbul for a meeting with the General Manager of EPİAŞ Mr. Mustafa Kayırıcı.
During the meeting EPİAŞ presented the model of operations of the Turkish “Day ahead” and “Intraday” markets. The Turkish exchange is planning the start of a gas trading platform in 2018, and a centralized market through bilateral contracts later that year. The representatives of EPİAŞ introduced their Bulgarian peers with the possibilities for trading with energy derivatives.
Following the presentations, the Bulgarian guests stated that there are no financial products traded on the power exchange operated by IBEX – only products with physical delivery. They also mentioned that the volumes traded on the Bulgarian day ahead market have a 20% share of the final electricity consumption in the country and the start of the Intraday market in Bulgaria is scheduled for 2018 with Nord Pool as solution provider for the intraday trading platform.
After the official meeting Mr. Kayırıcı and Mr. Konstantinov expressed their satisfaction with the meeting, which was important for the good cooperation between the two companies. The representatives of EPİAŞ were invited to visit Sofia in 2018.
