The record volume of 185 635,45 MWh were traded on the Intraday market segment in December. This is the highest monthly volume since the segment was launched in 2018 as reported by Independent Bulgarian Energy Exchange (IBEX).
‘The traded volume record comes as a result of the complete integration of Bulgaria into the single European intraday market – a process that was completed with the market coupling on the Greek border a month ago. This new channel that was open for real-time trading via our south neighbour and Italy to the rest of Europe has led to a decrease in market concentration, an increase in market depth and for Bulgarian market participants now there are many more visible active orders which can be matched’ – Mr. Konstantin Konstantinov, CEO of IBEX, has said.
The other factors that positively affected the development of the Intraday market segment last year were the launch of 15-minute products and API trading on this market segment. As per IBEX data, the total traded volume of electricity on the Intraday market segment is 1 187 795,45 MWh which is 3,5 times more than the period before the market coupling projects were completed.
