who we are
IBEX (Independent Bulgarian Energy Exchange) was established January 2014, as a fully-owned subsidiary of the Bulgarian Energy Holding EAD. IBEX holds a 10-year license (№ Л-422-11) for organizing a Power Exchange in Bulgaria. The licence was issued by the Energy and Water Regulatory Commission in 2014 for a 10-year period . In April 2024 it was extended for another 10-year period and is now valid until 31.03.2034.
IBEX is a full member of the Single Day-ahead Coupling (SDAC) and the Single Intraday Coupling (SIDC) and an associated member of PCR (Price Coupling of Regions) . Since January 2016, IBEX EAD has been a full member of the association of European energy exchanges EUROPEX.
As of 15 February 2018 Bulgarian stock exchange AD is the sole owner of the shareholder’s capital of IBEX EAD.
goals
The efforts of IBEX EAD are aimed entirely at providing a reliable, transparent and competitive electricity trading platforms to enable market participants to enter into transactions through a variety of products.
For this purpose, IBEX administrates to different trading platforms and organised market segments for short-term to long term products as Day -ahead, Intraday (Continuous trading and Intraday auctions mechanisms) and Bilateral contracts (Auctions and Auctions- End supplier mechanisms) market segments.
In March 2025 IBEX EAD expanded its portfolio of products adding guarantees of origin to its market segments – IBEX GOs.
